YOUR HIGHLIGHT AND CONTOUR MADE SIMPLE
I don’t know about you, but I can certainly say that when it comes to makeup today, it can be a little overwhelming. Gone are the days that we just apply foundation, a little blush, and some mascara. There are so many different techniques and application methods that we hear about and when feeling adventurous, give them a little try. One of the most popular tips at the moment is highlighting and contouring. But what is it, and how can we all add it into our lives no matter how experienced we are with makeup?
To highlight and contour the face is now a beautiful way to enhance natural features and sculpt the structure of the face. Highlighting helps to illuminate the high points of the face, such as the cheekbones and the bridge of the nose when the light hits the skin, sharpening these features. Contouring does the opposite and enhances the shadowed areas such as the jawline and forehead, giving more structure and definition. The good thing is, you can do as little or as much as you like depending on how subtle or dramatic you are wanting your finished look to be. Here are a few of my favourite, foolproof products and tools that will help you to achieve the results without it becoming difficult, or adding too much time to your makeup application.
To highlight your beautiful bone structure and draw even more attention to those cheekbones, apply your highlighter to the tops of your cheeks, brow bone and cupid’s bow. To give the skin even more of a glow, use your fingertips to gently pat some more highlighter up to the temples, further down onto the cheeks and down the centre of the nose. This will give your skin a really dewy, fresh appearance as the light hits it.
