What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion i s a non-invasive, gentle process of using crystals accelerated onto the skin’s surface to abrade layers of dead and damaged skin cells. On completion of the abrasive process, a vacuum suction whisks away the fired crystals and the unwanted abraded skin particles leaving your skin smoother, brighter, firmer, and with a course of procedures, blemish free.

What benefits can I expect from microdermabrasion?

After your microdermabrasion treatment you will see an immediate visible result or youthful brilliance, and illumination of dull and stressed looking skin even after one procedure. Your homecare products will also be able to penetrate 4-5 times greater than skins that have not been treated. Microdermabrasion increases microcirculation, bringing nutrients to the skin and improves greatly the appearance of all imperfections. However a program will be advised so that your skin goals are achieved. Fantastic for brighter, firmer, clearer and healthier looking skin.

What will my skin look like after microdermabrasion?

Your skin may have a slight redness post treatment that will generally fade within 1-4 hours. Your Skin Matrix Aesthetician can apply a mineral powder post treatment that not only eliminates any signs of pink, but acts as a sun protection to protect those fresh, beautiful, healthy cells that are now exposed for the world to admire.

Do I need to do anything before or after my treatment?

It is recommended that you refrain from any invasive procedures if you are having a deeper microdermabrasion procedure, unless advised by your Aesthetician. Waxing is not advised 2 days prior and 7 days post treatment. Skin Matrix strongly advises against using sun beds and swimming in heavily chlorinated water for at least 2 weeks post treatment.

The use of sunscreen such as Serious Protection from Cosmedix is recommended for daily use throughout your program.
